Taleb calls the property of gaining from volatility and uncertainty, rather than merely resisting shocks, antifragility. Across economics, technology, health, education, and life, the book asks for structures that do not break when forecasts fail rather than ever more accurate forecasts.
What stayed with me
For me it also legitimates the original generalist. Instead of optimizing for one career or income source, keep several small and different experiments and preserve the upside. Its language of barbell strategies and convexity helped me see distributed activity as a design rather than a flaw.
I use the same view for institutions and crypto-economics: avoid single points of failure and leave room for a useful degree of disorder. Antifragility is not praise for a personality; it is a structural question about where to set a ceiling on loss and leave room to grow.
