Plural Reality
Making the issues, conflicts, and uncertainty behind agreement visible so that meetings and civic participation can move forward.
Plural Reality develops systems for civic participation and deliberative democracy with AI, helping municipalities and companies make decisions. Listening AI, rapid surveys, rapid meetings, and an AI secretary for legislators form one flow: collecting voices, making issues visible, deciding, and reporting. As CEO, Shunsuke Takagi works across research, institutional design, product design, software architecture and implementation, and business development.
Civichat addressed a barrier to public support: residents needed to know an institution's name and administrative vocabulary before they could use it. The same question now extends to discussion. The work is to remove the requirement that participants correctly name an issue before they can take part. Across this work, the consistent theme is lowering the prior knowledge required to participate in institutions and debate.
Rapid Meetings do not hand conclusions to AI. They structure agreement, conflict, and still-unclear issues from answers gathered before a meeting, then return final judgment to people. At DD2030, a three-hour session gathered 47 opinions and 1,593 votes, organized into six topics and 21 subtopics. Work with Yosano, Higashiōsaka, and Otoineppu treats institutions, operations, and technology as one design task.
